Privacy Policy

The short version

TaxShelf keeps the tax documents you choose to record, one shelf per tax year: the document type, a label, an amount if you type one, notes, and an optional photo or PDF. It shows a countdown to the file-by date you pick. Your shelf stays on your iPhone unless you turn on AI assistants. The app has no ads and no tracking. TaxShelf is not a tax filing service and does not give tax advice.

What stays on your device

  • Every tax year, document, amount, note, and attachment you add.
  • Attachments (photos and PDFs) never leave your iPhone, even with AI assistants turned on.
  • If you turn on AI assistants, a random account ID and a device key kept in the iOS Keychain.

If you never turn on AI assistants, Dudley Development, LLC receives nothing. Deleting the app removes all of it.

If you turn on AI assistants (optional)

Under Settings → AI assistants you can connect an assistant such as Claude so it can read your shelf. There is no sign-in: the app creates a random account with no name, email, or phone number. After you connect:

  • your saved shelf (tax years, file-by dates, and the document fields you typed, with attachment file names but not the files) is copied to TaxShelf's server at taxshelf.dudleyapps.com, encrypted at rest, and reachable only by your account;
  • an assistant you link with a one-time code from the app can read that shelf. It can never add, change, or delete anything. The full export pack for a year works only while you grant it in the app;
  • we use this data only to provide the connection. We don't sell it, share it for advertising, or use it to train models.

Revoke any assistant in the app at any time. Turn off and delete server copy removes the server copy and disconnects every assistant immediately; your shelf on your iPhone stays. What an assistant does with the information it reads is governed by that assistant's own privacy policy.

Reminders

File-by reminders are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone, and only if you allow notifications. No push server is involved.

Purchases

TaxShelf Pro, a one-time purchase, unlocks other tax years, unlimited documents, and export packs. Apple processes payment through StoreKit; we never see your payment details. Purchases can be restored from Settings.

Used to track you

Nothing. TaxShelf has no advertising or analytics SDKs, and we do not sell personal data.

Retention

The server copy is kept until you delete it in the app. We also delete it on request by email.

Children

TaxShelf is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the new version will be posted at this URL with an updated date above.
