The short version
Dudley Development, LLC operates VibeRater, a free, for-entertainment app that gives your photos a playful AI "vibe" rating and, if you choose, lets you share ratings, post to a feed, add friends, message, and join events. When you rate a photo, it is sent to our service to generate the rating and then discarded — processed in memory and never stored. When you choose to post, share, or save, that media and the related profile and social data are stored so the feature works. We don't sell your personal data. Ads use Google AdMob and are requested as non-personalized ads; VibeRater does not request permission to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Rating a photo (processed, not stored)
When you pick or take a photo to rate, VibeRater sends it to our rating service, which uses a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) to produce the playful score, verdict, archetype, and aura. A photo you only rate is used solely to generate that rating, processed in memory, and is never stored, retained, logged, or used to train models. The camera and photo-library permissions exist only so you can choose the image you want rated.
Accounts and profiles
Social features (posting, friends, messages, events, your Mini) use a profile that syncs to our cloud service so it stays attached to you across launches and devices. Depending on what you do, this can include: a device-generated account identifier; an optional username, display name, bio, avatar, and banner; and — if you choose to sign in — a Sign in with Apple or Google identifier (we receive an opaque identifier, not your Apple/Google password). You can use the rating features without creating a social profile.
Content you post or share
If you post, share, or save, the selected media and content — posts, captions, ratings you publish, vibe cards, comments, likes, events you create or RSVP to, and direct messages — are stored on our cloud infrastructure (Supabase) so the social features work and other users can see what you chose to share. Direct messages are stored to deliver them; they are not end-to-end encrypted, and we may access content when necessary for safety, moderation, or legal reasons. Content you rate privately (without posting) is never published.
Friends, contacts, and discovery
To help you find friends, VibeRater can scan the contacts on your device for saved @handles or invite codes. Your contacts are matched on-device and are not uploaded. If you opt in to VibeRadar (nearby discovery), a coarse, approximate location is shared briefly with other opted-in users so you can see nearby venues and vibers; you control this in Settings.
Safety and moderation
VibeRater has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You can report any post and block any user in the app. We review reports and act on them — typically within 24 hours — by removing content and, where warranted, removing the user. See our Terms of Use for the full policy.
Analytics
We use PostHog to understand how the app is used and to improve it. Analytics is limited to coarse, product events (for example, that a rating was completed) tied to your pseudonymous account identifier. We do not send your photos, messages, captions, names, or contacts to analytics. Event data is minimized and truncated, and if you enable private mode we stop sending analytics.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app shows occasional ads served by Google AdMob, a third-party advertising network. VibeRater requests non-personalized ads only and does not request access to the iOS advertising identifier (IDFA). Google may still process limited device, IP-address, and ad-interaction data to serve, secure, and measure those ads. We do not receive, store, or link that data to your account.
- No cross-app tracking request: VibeRater does not show Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt because it does not request permission for cross-app tracking.
- Non-personalized requests: every AdMob request from VibeRater is marked for non-personalized ad treatment.
- How Google uses this data is described in Google's advertising policy and Google's privacy policy.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that make the app work:
- Anthropic — generates your vibe rating from a photo (processed in memory, not stored by us).
- Supabase — cloud hosting and database for your profile and the content you post or share.
- Apple & Google — Sign in with Apple / Google sign-in, when you choose to use them.
- Google AdMob — advertising, as described above.
- PostHog — pseudonymous product analytics, as described above.
- Sentry — crash and error diagnostics (crash reports plus device/OS information tied to your pseudonymous identifier). No photos, messages, contacts, or names are sent.
What stays on your device
- Your recent results and any saved vibe cards.
- Your sign-in and session credentials, stored in the iOS Keychain.
- Your sound, haptics, language, and privacy preferences.
Retention and deleting your data
Content you post is retained until you delete it or delete your account. You can delete individual posts in the app, and you can delete your account from Settings, which removes your profile and associated social content and anonymizes your identifiers. Photos you only rate are never stored, so there is nothing to delete on our side.
For entertainment only
VibeRater is a novelty. Its scores, grades, archetypes, and auras are AI-generated fun and are not a measurement of anything real about you, your appearance, or any person in a photo.
Children
VibeRater is not directed at children, and you must be at least 16 to use it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), sign-in and session credentials are held in the device Keychain, and access to stored content is controlled by your account. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the new version will be posted at this URL with an updated date above. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance.
